Schneider Electric for Businesses: Protection, Control, and Continuity for Electrical Installations

A business electrical installation requires much more than just powering equipment. It must protect people and assets, respond to faults, support the growth of operations, and, in many cases, help maintain processes running during long shifts.

Schneider Electric currently defines its activities around three major pillars: electrification, automation, and digitalization, with solutions for industries, businesses, buildings, data centers, and infrastructure. In Argentina, its catalog ranges from low-voltage devices to motor control systems, industrial automation, and power protection.

Within this broad portfolio, there are several families of products that are particularly relevant to businesses and can currently be found in the offerings marketed by Equipel.

Acti9: protection and control for electrical panels

In commercial buildings, offices, workshops, and industrial facilities, the electrical panel centralizes a large share of circuit distribution and protection functions.

Schneider Electric's Acti9 family includes circuit breakers, residual current devices (RCDs), and control and monitoring devices for low-voltage electrical distribution.

Acti9 residual current devices are designed to detect leakage currents and disconnect the power supply under specific fault conditions, helping to protect people and the installation. Schneider Electric positions this range for both commercial buildings and industrial and residential applications.

Within the same family are the Acti9 iCT modular contactors, designed for the electrical control of loads such as lighting, heating, ventilation, and small motors. This allows, for example, automating an office's lighting circuits, controlling ventilation systems, or performing remote operations from a panel.

Equipel currently markets Acti9 products, including iCT modular contactors and circuit breakers from the range.

TeSys: protection and control of electric motors

When an installation incorporates pumps, fans, conveyor belts, compressors, or other machinery driven by motors, new protection and control needs arise.

The TeSys family is one of Schneider Electric's lines specifically developed for motor control and protection.

Among its components are the TeSys GV2 motor circuit breakers, which combine isolation and manual control functions with thermal and short-circuit protection. Schneider Electric offers various solutions within TeSys for different power levels and industrial applications.

Added to this are the TeSys Deca contactors, used to perform electrical operations on motors and other loads. The range includes contactors for direct-on-line, reversing, and star-delta starting configurations, among other applications.

These are common components in automation panels, motor control centers, and industrial machinery.

Equipel's offering includes both Schneider TeSys GV2 motor circuit breakers and contactors from the TeSys family, featuring different currents and configurations for industrial applications.

Altivar: controlling motor speed

Not all industrial motors need to run permanently at nominal speed. Pumps, fans, belts, machines, and various processes may require adapting their speed to the needs of the operation.

For these applications, Schneider Electric develops the Altivar family of variable speed drives and soft starters.

The drives allow for electronic control of a motor's operation, adapting its speed and behavior to each process. Schneider Electric offers different Altivar ranges oriented towards machinery, industrial processes, buildings, and HVAC systems, with solutions spanning from relatively simple applications to high-power installations.

Equipel markets various Schneider Altivar models, including Altivar 12 and Easy Altivar 310, for motor control applications in industrial machinery and systems.

This technology is particularly interesting for businesses working with pumping, ventilation, material handling, or machinery, where proper motor control can improve process behavior and avoid unnecessary mechanical maneuvers.

Harmony: the interface between operator and machine

On a machine or control panel, some of the most visible components are also fundamental for daily operation: pushbuttons, selector switches, emergency stops, and signaling devices.

Schneider Electric groups these solutions within the Harmony family, developed for the interface between operators and control systems.

The range includes pushbuttons, selectors, pilot lights, control stations, and other devices for panels and industrial machinery. Schneider highlights applications intended for machine and production line control, featuring various formats and configurations.

Within the offering available at Equipel are Easy Harmony XA2 products, such as 22 mm industrial pushbuttons for panel mounting.

They are relatively small elements within a panel, but they have a central function: allowing the operator to start, stop, select, or visualize process statuses clearly.

APC by Schneider Electric: business continuity for critical equipment

In a business, an electrical interruption does not necessarily affect only a light fixture or a machine. It can also halt servers, routers, switches, point-of-sale terminals, communication systems, and IT equipment.

APC is a Schneider Electric brand specialized in power protection and backup, featuring UPS systems designed for workstations and small offices up to servers, networks, and critical applications.

The Back-UPS lines provide battery backup and surge protection for computers and electronic equipment. For networks and servers, Schneider also offers Smart-UPS and double-conversion online systems oriented towards applications requiring higher levels of availability.

Equipel markets APC solutions and has a specific offering of Back-UPS and Easy UPS, including online equipment intended for servers and professional applications. Schneider Electric Argentina also identifies Equipel as one of its online APC distributors.

Easy9: protection for smaller-scale installations

Not all companies require a complex industrial infrastructure. Retail premises, small offices, warehouses, and auxiliary spaces also need reliable electrical protection.

The Easy9 range includes miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) and residual current circuit breakers (RCCBs). Schneider primary targets this range at residential installations, so it should not be confused with its industrial protection ranges, but it can be relevant for certain circuits and smaller-scale buildings depending on the project and the sizing of the installation.

The circuit breakers protect against overloads and short circuits, while the residual current devices provide protection against specific leakage currents.

Equipel currently markets various Easy9 models, including Schneider Electric miniature circuit breakers and residual current devices.

A single brand for different points of the installation

One of the key features of the Schneider Electric portfolio is the ability to cover different needs within the same installation.

In a company, for example, Acti9 protections in distribution boards can coexist with TeSys motor circuit breakers and contactors for machines, Altivar drives to control motors, Harmony pushbuttons on operation panels, and APC UPS units backing up the IT infrastructure.

These are not interchangeable products, nor do they perform the same function. Each family is designed to resolve a different part of the electrical system and must be selected according to the current, voltage, power, type of load, breaking capacity, environmental conditions, and application characteristics.

Therefore, especially in commercial and industrial installations, correct technical selection is just as important as the quality of the component.

Schneider Electric at Equipel

At Equipel, we market electrical materials, automation solutions, and equipment for commercial and industrial installations, with an offering that includes various Schneider Electric families.

Our work is not limited to supplying components. We offer technical advisory services and the capacity to support projects involving electrical materials, automation and control, and the integration of electrical panels and rooms. Equipel currently reports more than 25,000 SKUs in permanent stock, more than 10,000 integrated panels, and a logistical presence in Neuquén, Añelo, and Buenos Aires.

For maintenance, plant expansions, new installations, or automation projects, having component availability and support to select each element helps simplify procurement and maintain technical consistency throughout the project.

Protection, control, motor management, and power continuity are all part of the same infrastructure. With Schneider Electric and Equipel, businesses can access solutions developed to meet these diverse needs.
